About Güglinger Maienfest
Güglinger Maienfest — edition 2026
Program 2026 — Whitsun Festival with Motto
The 2026 edition follows the established four-day structure of the Güglinger Maienfeste since 1938. The parade motto "Inventors' Spirit" provides a clear thematic framework for the main attraction on Whit Monday — the associations, schools, and float groups have worked for months on floats, costumes, and choreography.
The bands DanceHour (pop cover band) and Grumis (Schlager music) provide musical accompaniment for the dance evenings. The Cleebronner Musikkapelle is a traditional friendly brass band from the neighboring town. The disco in the second tent attracts the younger audience, while the breakfast event on Whit Sunday brings families back to the festival.

A Whitsun Tradition Since 1938
The Güglinger Maienfest has been held annually at Whitsun since 1938, making it one of the most traditional Volksfests in the Zabergäu region. The organizer is the town of Güglingen, a small town with just under 6,200 inhabitants in the western Heilbronn district, on the southwestern edge of the Zabergäu wine region. The festival has shaped several generations over almost nine decades — many residents of Güglingen still remember the first Maienfeste after the war, when the Volksfest was revived as a symbol of normality and community life.
Four Days Over Whitsun
The festival runs from Friday to Whit Monday. Friday, May 22, 2026, starts at 7 p.m. with the barrel tapping ceremony by the mayor, followed by a dance evening with the band DanceHour. Saturday, May 23, 2026, features the senior citizens' afternoon with coffee and cake for the older residents in the afternoon, and in the evening, Grumis will play, with a disco in a second tent. Whit Sunday, May 24, 2026, begins with the traditional Weißwurst breakfast in the Bavarian style (a tradition widespread in southern Germany), followed by a concert by the Cleebronner Musikkapelle, a flea market, a children's program with craft activities, and further dance events in the evening. Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, features the traditional wake-up call by the brass bands at 6 a.m., a family service, then the grand parade through the town with the motto "Inventors' Spirit" — with floats, traditional costume groups, and associations — and finally, the festive conclusion.
The Motto "Inventors' Spirit" 2026
Each Maienfest receives a new motto that thematically shapes the parade on Whit Monday. In 2026, the motto is "Inventors' Spirit" — a homage to German tradition of invention and innovative spirit. The associations, schools, and float groups creatively interpret the motto: from the printing press to the automobile to the solar cell. The parade brings a wide range of themes through the town center.
Güglingen in the Zabergäu
Güglingen is located in the western Heilbronn district, at the transition from Zabergäu to Stromberg. The town has a well-preserved historic town center with a town church, former castle, and old townhouses. In summer, the region is known for its wine production (Zabergäu wines), tourism (Maulbronn Monastery, monastery ruins), and rural culture. The Maienfest is the town's most important summer event.
