Singing in the Stadium
The Great Nuremberg Advent Singing is one of Germany's most extraordinary Christmas formats: a traditional Advent event held in the Bundesliga arena of 1. FC Nürnberg. Instead of football, Advent carols sung together echo through the pitch and stands of the Max-Morlock-Stadion – from classic chorales like 'Maria durch ein Dornwald ging' and 'O du fröhliche' to modern Christmas songs.
Thousands of Voices, Thousands of Lights
The organizing team of 1. FC Nürnberg promotes the Advent Singing with the slogan 'Nuremberg's largest sea of lights': thousands of visitors bring candles and headlamps, transforming the otherwise austere stadium into a realm of light. In 2025, 14,000 people gathered on December 22nd. The event combines classic Advent singing with performances by choirs, musicians, the Nuremberg Christkind, and celebrities from sports, politics, and society.
Charity and VGN Ticket
A portion of the ticket revenue traditionally goes to the Nuremberg Food Bank (€1 per ticket). The ticket typically includes the use of public transport (VGN) – a convenience that complements the stadium's excellent connectivity via subway and suburban train.
Nuremberg and its Christkindlesmarkt
The Advent Singing complements Germany's largest Christmas stage: Nuremberg hosts the world-famous Christkindlesmarkt. While the latter fills the city center during the day, the stadium singing offers a collective, unusual experience in the late evening – an Advent tradition on the scale of a Bundesliga match.
