Thousands of voices singing Christmas carols together in the Max-Morlock-Stadion
The Great Nuremberg Advent Singing is one of Germany's most extraordinary Christmas formats: a traditional Advent event held in the Bundesliga arena of 1. FC Nürnberg. Instead of football, Advent carols sung together echo through the pitch and stands of the Max-Morlock-Stadion – from classic chorales like 'Maria durch ein Dornwald ging' and 'O du fröhliche' to modern Christmas songs.
The organizing team of 1. FC Nürnberg promotes the Advent Singing with the slogan 'Nuremberg's largest sea of lights': thousands of visitors bring candles and headlamps, transforming the otherwise austere stadium into a realm of light. In 2025, 14,000 people gathered on December 22nd. The event combines classic Advent singing with performances by choirs, musicians, the Nuremberg Christkind, and celebrities from sports, politics, and society.
A portion of the ticket revenue traditionally goes to the Nuremberg Food Bank (€1 per ticket). The ticket typically includes the use of public transport (VGN) – a convenience that complements the stadium's excellent connectivity via subway and suburban train.
The Advent Singing complements Germany's largest Christmas stage: Nuremberg hosts the world-famous Christkindlesmarkt. While the latter fills the city center during the day, the stadium singing offers a collective, unusual experience in the late evening – an Advent tradition on the scale of a Bundesliga match.
In 2026, 1. FC Nürnberg once again invites you to its Max-Morlock-Stadion for a communal Advent carol sing-along. Thousands of singers will gather in the stands and on the pitch, bringing candles and headlamps to transform the stadium into 'Nuremberg's largest sea of lights'. The program includes performances by choirs, the Nuremberg Christkind, and prominent voices from sports, politics, and society.
1. FC Nürnberg will announce the exact date, the song and guest program, and the start of ticket sales via fcn.de and stadion-nuernberg.de.
Ticket prices and the start of sales for 2026 will be announced by 1. FC Nürnberg on stadion-nuernberg.de. €1 per ticket is donated to the Nuremberg Food Bank. VGN travel to and from the venue is included in the ticket.
Subway line U1 to Messe or S-Bahn line S2 to Nürnberg-Frankenstadion, both with a short walk to the Max-Morlock-Stadion. By car: A9 / A3, follow signs for Stadion / Messe. Public transport is recommended during the Advent Singing.
Tickets are available through official ticket outlets (Stadion-Service-Center, Ticketmaster) and from the Club's stand at the Christkindlesmarkt. €1 per ticket is donated to the Nuremberg Food Bank. The ticket includes VGN travel to and from the venue (details on stadion-nuernberg.de).
Bring your own candles or headlamps – they help create the 'sea of lights'.
