Open-air concert series at the Max-Morlock-Stadion with Pop, Rock, and Indie
Since its premiere in 2024, the Stadionpark Open Air Sommer has established itself as one of the most important open-air formats in Franconia. The venue is the Summerstage – a temporary concert area directly next to the Max-Morlock-Stadion in the Volkspark Dutzendteich. The location is exceptional: central, with public transport connections, directly at the stadium, yet amidst the green areas of the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds (now Nuremberg Volkspark).
Over two weeks, the concert dates are spread across a cross-genre mix: German Pop and Schlager (Wincent Weiss, Montez), Punk Rock (Broilers), Soul/Hip-Hop (Jan Delay), Progressive Rock (Marillion), DJ Pop (TREAM). Thus, the series covers a broad audience, from families and pop fans to indie listeners and genre specialists. Several shows in the 2026 season are already sold out – an indication of the format's growing reach.
Behind Stadionpark are Concertbüro Franken – one of the most important event organizers in Southern Germany – and Stadion Nürnberg Betriebs GmbH. The idea: to create a new open-air venue beyond the classic indoor halls, enabling top concerts under the open sky in an attractive, easily accessible environment. The scale is between stadium concerts and club shows – approximately 6,000-10,000 visitors per show, depending on seating arrangements.
Nuremberg, with around 525,000 inhabitants, is Bavaria's second-largest city and the center of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. It is one of Southern Germany's most important concert cities within Bavaria. The Stadionpark Open Air Sommer complements the existing festival offerings (Rock im Park at Zeppelinfeld, Klassik Open Air, Bardentreffen, Norisringrennen) with a flexible open-air concert series.
The 3rd edition of the Stadionpark Open Air Sommer brings seven top acts to the Summerstage in Nuremberg between June 28 and July 11, 2026. Opening with Wincent Weiss, who is on his biggest open-air tour of his career across Germany. Closing on July 11 with newcomer star TREAM, whose Nuremberg show is already sold out.
The line-up covers a broad genre spectrum: Punk Rock (Broilers, July 2, sold out), Save the Core (July 4), Schlager Pop (Montez, July 5), Soul/Hip-Hop (Jan Delay, July 9), and Progressive Rock (Marillion, July 10). The series is thus developing into one of the most important open-air concert formats in Southern Germany.
