Three-day culinary festival from August 21st to 23rd, 2026, in the historic courtyard of Burg Wissem Troisdorf — approx. 15 selected gastronomic stands
Troisdorf, a city of around 78,000 inhabitants in the Rhein-Sieg district (Cologne administrative region), is located between Bonn and Cologne, east of the Rhine. Characterized by its industrial history (Dynamit Nobel) and its location at the transition from the Rhineland to the Bergisches Land. The urban highlight is Burg Wissem — a historic moated castle, now home to the Picture Book Museum and the venue for several city events.
Burg Wissem is located in the center of Troisdorf and features a historic courtyard with surrounding walls, an island setting, and a large terrace. This architecture makes the Gourmetsommer special: unlike an open marketplace, the courtyard is a defined, intimate space — a small island of enjoyment. The renowned Troisdorf Picture Book Museum is also housed in the same building.
The Gourmetsommer concept focuses on quality over quantity: not 50 food trucks like at a street food festival, but around 15 selected stands offering upscale gastronomy. Represented are:
The stands offer tasting portions and a cohesive menu — visitors can stroll from stand to stand and create their personal gourmet program.
The festival runs for three days with different times:
The staggered times suit the different moods of the day: Friday evening after work, Saturday from noon until late, Sunday for a family brunch and a late summer wind-down.
The organizer is the City of Troisdorf — in cooperation with local restaurateurs and selected regional providers. This makes the festival a city event with cultural aspirations: castle atmosphere + gourmet culture as a marker of city identity.
In mid-August, Troisdorf is in full summer swing. The castle park around Burg Wissem is a popular recreational area, and the nearby Wahner Heide nature reserve offers hiking opportunities. Visitors to the Gourmetsommer can round off their evening with a stroll through the park or a cocktail in one of Troisdorf's bistros.
The 2026 edition adheres to the proven quality concept: around 15 selected gastronomic stands, atmospheric castle location, wine and spirits selection, live music as background. Three days with staggered times — Friday as an after-work evening, Saturday with full operation, Sunday with family brunch and wind-down.
