"Troisdorf is loud and colorful — With you together it goes round" — Carnival in the city center and districts
Troisdorf, located in the Rhein-Sieg district east of Cologne, is deeply rooted in Rhenish carnival tradition. With over 80,000 inhabitants and seven large districts, the city is large enough to afford its own carnival with a main parade and seven separate district parades. The Festausschuss Troisdorfer Karneval e.V. (FTK) has been coordinating events for decades.
Sunday, February 15th, 2026, starting at 1:30 PM: The main parade starts in Blücherstraße and proceeds via Theodor-Heuß-Ring, Ringstraße, Siebengebirgsallee, and Frankfurter Straße through Troisdorf's city center. Floats, dance troupes, music bands, and carnival societies from Troisdorf and affiliated clubs will throw Kamelle (sweets), Strüßjer (small bouquets), and candy into the crowd. Afterwards, the After-Parade Party starts at 4:00 PM in the Stadthalle Troisdorf, Kölner Straße 167.
In addition to the main parade, each district has its own carnival parade — a special feature reflecting Troisdorf's polycentric structure:
"Troisdorf es laut un bunt — Met Üch zosamme jeht et rund" — the official session motto in Kölsch / Troisdorf dialect celebrates the togetherness of carnival joy. It is a commitment to the Rhenish tradition of community and a "loud, colorful" zest for life.
Troisdorf has around 80,000 inhabitants and is the second-largest city in the Rhein-Sieg district after Siegburg. The city is located between Cologne, Bonn, and the Bergisches Land — easily accessible by transport, with its own S-Bahn connection. The Rhenish carnival tradition has been established here for over 150 years.
The 2026 carnival session in Troisdorf features a main parade and seven district parades. The organizer is the Festausschuss Troisdorfer Karneval e.V. (FTK).
