The world final of the viral geography game with a community festival around the Tempodrom
GeoGuessr is more than a game — it's a global subculture of geography addicts who, in seconds, recognize where in the world they've landed based on curbs, street signs, and vegetation. From September 2nd to 5th, 2026, the 24 best of these map detectives will come to Berlin to compete for the World Champion title at the Tempodrom on Möckernstraße. The world final relocates its headquarters to Germany for the second time — turning the Tempodrom in Kreuzberg into the official mecca for the GeoGuessr community for four days.
What began in 2013 as a free browser game by a Swedish developer is now a professionalized e-sport with its own league, sponsorship deals, and Twitch streams that regularly attract six-figure viewership. The 2026 World Championship marks another milestone: for the first time, the entire final will take place over four days — Day 1 and 2 with the group stage in the fan zone around the Tempodrom, Day 3 and 4 with playoffs and the grand final in the arena itself, which offers around 3,500 seats.
Unlike classic e-sport tournaments, the focus in Berlin is on interaction. A dedicated community festival will be set up around the Tempodrom, featuring a gaming zone for playing yourself, a beer garden, food trucks, a partner expo from GeoGuessr sponsors, and planned meet-and-greets with top players. In the fan zone, the group stage matches will be shown on large screens — spectators can watch the pros directly over their shoulders and follow the solutions in real-time.
The Tempodrom on Möckernstraße 10, directly at the Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn station, is one of Berlin's most unusual event locations with its distinctive tent roof architecture. Originally founded in 1980 as a circus tent by nurse Irene Moessinger near Potsdamer Platz, the current building has stood in Kreuzberg, in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, since 2001 — making it a piece of Berlin's urban history, reflecting the capital's self-staging between subculture and mainstream. The location suits GeoGuessr: experimental, international, with a large fan community.
The 2026 edition is the largest World Championship format in GeoGuessr history to date: four days of finals instead of the previous compact two. The 24 finalists have qualified through the GeoGuessr Pro League and continental qualifiers — top players like blinky, consus, or zi8gzag are expected; the exact participant list will be published by GeoGuessr closer to the event. For the first time, the entire event takes place at a single location: in and around the Tempodrom in Kreuzberg.
The group stage on September 2nd and 3rd runs in the fan zone — spectators watch the matches in real-time on large screens, can watch the players identify Street View locations, and move freely around the Tempodrom. The playoffs and the Grand Final on September 4th and 5th then move into the arena, where the actual stage format with full show production takes place and the World Champion is crowned.
Throughout the four days, there will be food trucks, a beer garden, a gaming zone with GeoGuessr to play yourself, meet-and-greets with the pros, and a partner expo. Ticket prices for the 4-day pass range from around €202 to €252.
The official detailed program will be published by GeoGuessr in summer 2026 at geoguessr.com/world-championship/berlin as well as on the ticketing pages of Tempodrom and Eventim. As of May 2026, the four-day schedule is confirmed:
