51st Edition — Brandenburg's Largest Folk Festival
Beelitz and asparagus — they belong together like Munich and beer. Since the 19th century, the white gold has been cultivated here on the sandy soils southwest of Potsdam. During the asparagus season months of April to June, farm shops, restaurants, and markets in the region fill up. The Beelitz Asparagus Festival is the crown of this season: Brandenburg's largest Volksfest (folk festival) with over 50,000 visitors annually, a mix of harvest festival, town festival, parade, and concert weekend.
The 51st edition runs from Friday, June 5th, to Sunday, June 7th, 2026. The Stadtpark transforms into a culinary mile with asparagus stands, food stalls, stages, and classic fairground attractions. In parallel, the courtyards of the Old Town open up — an old tradition that distinguishes Beelitz from standardized folk festivals.
The 2026 stage program is packed with first-class Schlager and pop acts: Patricia Kelly from the Kelly Family, Milli Vanilli with their reunion program, the entertainer Ross Antony, and the Austrian folk musician Hansi Hinterseer. Cover bands, regional groups, DJs, and dance ensembles will perform on the other stages.
The highlight of the weekend is the parade on Sunday, June 7th, at 1:30 PM. Starting in Virchowstraße, it proceeds through the Old Town to the Stadtpark. The procession is led by the reigning Asparagus Queen Emely Friedrich — a tradition Beelitz has maintained for decades. Floats from Beelitz asparagus farms, local clubs, and the Heimatbühne (local stage) make the parade a piece of lived Brandenburg folk culture.
Beelitz is a small town in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district — with just under 12,000 inhabitants, southwest of Potsdam, easily accessible via RE7 from Berlin. Worth seeing are the Alte Brauerei (Old Brewery), the town church, and especially the Beelitz-Heilstätten, the nearby former sanatorium complex, which has gained fame today as a secret tip for lost places and a film set. During the Asparagus Festival weekend, the town's population swells many times over — travel by train is recommended.
Confirmed headliners and key points according to the City of Beelitz and organizers:
Train: RE7 from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Beelitz-Heilstätten or Beelitz Stadt (approx. 50 min), then approx. 15 min walk to the Stadtpark. By car: A9 exit Beelitz, A10 exit Ferch — parking areas are signposted.
Free admission. Concerts without tickets. Asparagus dishes and snacks at market prices — a plate of fresh Beelitz asparagus with ham or schnitzel costs between €18 and €28.
If you want to visit asparagus farms: Combine it with the Asparagus Festival. Many farms have open doors during the festival weekend. Hofladen Buschmann & Winkelmann and Spargelhof Klaistow are easily accessible and offer farm tours.
