Sacred Music in Fürth's Churches
The Fürth Days of Sacred Music is an ecumenical festival that brings sacred music in its full spectrum to the historic churches of Fürth. Over several weeks in November and December, the program offers around a dozen concerts at various venues, combining church music tradition with artistic diversity.
The repertoire ranges from classical organ and choral music to symphonic concerts and more unusual formats like jazz organ and children's concerts. The festival traditionally opens with a "Night of Sounds" and concludes with a grand Advent choral and orchestral concert. Thus, it spans the period from late autumn into the Advent season.
Several historic churches in Fürth serve as venues: Auferstehungskirche, St. Michael, Christkönig, St. Paul, Maria Magdalena, Unsere Liebe Frau, and St. Heinrich. Each venue contributes its own acoustics and atmosphere — from the Gothic city church to the modern community church.
Fürth is an independent city in the state of Bavaria, directly bordering Nuremberg and part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Known as the 'Kleeblattstadt' (cloverleaf city), it boasts a rich tradition of churches and civic life; the Days of Sacred Music build upon this heritage, making Fürth a destination for lovers of sacred music from across the region every late autumn.
The 2026 dates fall within the traditional festival window between mid-November and early December. The exact concert program will be published by the Fürth Church Music Association on the festival website; it follows the established structure with an opening ("Night of Sounds") and a concluding Advent choral and orchestral concert.
