Christmas market with an attached medieval market on Fürther Freiheit
The Fürth Christmas Market with Medieval Market takes place annually on Fürther Freiheit, the central square of the independent city of Fürth in Bavaria, in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. For several weeks, the square transforms into a festively illuminated town of stalls, attracting visitors from Fürth, Nuremberg, and all of Middle Franconia.
On the decorated market grounds, around 40 stalls invite you to stroll daily from 10 AM to 9 PM. The offerings range from original gift ideas and Christmas tree decorations to festive specialties such as mulled wine, candied almonds, and Franconian delicacies.
A special feature of the Fürth market is the directly attached medieval market. At around 25 historical stalls, candle makers, glass and blacksmith artists, potters, and felt makers demonstrate their traditional crafts. Food and drinks are prepared according to old recipes, giving the market a special, historic atmosphere.
The market's trademark is one of Bavaria's largest Christmas pyramids: standing around 14 meters high in the neighboring Dr.-Konrad-Adenauer-Anlage, where mulled wine is also served. It operates beyond the actual market end until the beginning of January.
A fire show provides a spectacular highlight daily – Mondays to Thursdays at 7 PM, Fridays to Sundays at 8 PM. For the youngest visitors, there is a children's program on the medieval market from Mondays to Thursdays at 3 PM. The combination of the Christmas market, medieval market, and giant pyramid makes the Fürth market one of the most charming Advent destinations in the region.
