In the Upper Franconian Frankenwald, in the Carlsgrün district of the market town of Bad Steben (Hof district), a new running competition starts in 2026: the Adelberg-Lauf. The organizer is TSV Carlsgrün / Frankenwald 1923 e.V. — a traditional sports club that is reviving its former Nordic Walking Day with the Adelberg-Lauf and relaunching it as a contemporary fun run format with a competitive element.
The run is aimed at all levels of ambition. Three routes are available: Kids-Run 2.5 km for children and young people, Fun Run 5.2 km for beginners and hobby runners (also open to Nordic walkers and walkers), Fun Run 10.6 km for ambitious runners. The long run is officially timed, so the fastest times will be recorded and awarded.
Start and finish are at the TSV Carlsgrün Club Hall, Turnhallenweg 2 in 95138 Bad Steben. The run leads through the hilly landscape of the Frankenwald — one of the most scenically attractive low mountain ranges in Upper Franconia. Bad Steben is a state-recognized spa town on the Bavarian-Thuringian border.
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest runners on the timed route, the clubs with the most participants, and the youngest and oldest participants. The day concludes with the award ceremony with a festive atmosphere and programme items in and around the club house.
Adelberg-Lauf — edition 2026
On May 17, 2026, the first Adelberg-Lauf will take place — TSV Carlsgrün is reviving its former Nordic Walking Day with this fun run. Start from 2:00 PM at the club hall in Carlsgrün.
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest runners on the timed 10.6 km route, the clubs with the most participants, and the youngest and oldest participants. A festive atmosphere and catering at the club house will round off the day.
