German-French wine culture on the Neckar — a weekend of France in Swabia
The French Wine Festival Kleiningersheim is one of the most charming summer festivals in the Ludwigsburg district. It is organized by Franck Bento, a Frenchman living in Ingersheim, who brings French wine culture to Swabia under the name "the Frenchman on the Neckar." At the festival grounds near the Kleiningersheim community center — one of the two districts of Ingersheim — a mini-France will emerge on the banks of the Neckar for two days.
The focus is on wines from various French growing regions — from Bordeaux and Burgundy to the Loire Valley, Provence, and Languedoc. Tastings are informal, and Franck Bento will explain the history of the wineries and the characteristics of the respective grape varieties. Those who wish can then purchase bottles directly for home consumption.
The culinary offerings feature French classics: Flammkuchen with crème fraîche, bacon, and onions, cheese platters from French selections, Saucisson, pâté, baguette, sometimes bouillabaisse or cassoulet — and crêpes for a sweet finish. The ambiance is deliberately relaxed: long tables under the open sky, accordion or chanson music in the background, a touch of the Mediterranean in the Neckar village.
Ingersheim, with just over 5,000 inhabitants, belongs to the Ludwigsburg district in the Württemberg wine region. The municipality consists of the districts of Klein- and Großingersheim, both located along the Neckar loop. Swabian wine is at home here — which makes the French Wine Festival all the more interesting: it is a friendly German-French encounter between two great wine cultures in the heart of Baden-Württemberg, in the spirit of decades of German-French friendship.
The 2026 edition runs on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, each from 12:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The venue is the festival grounds near the Kleiningersheim community center — the well-known meeting point for summer festivals in the municipality of Ingersheim. Franck Bento brings his selection of French wines and French festival flair directly to the banks of the Neckar.
Food and drink will be served, including Flammkuchen, cheese, Saucisson, baguette, and French wines from various growing regions. Accordion and chanson music will create the atmosphere, and the German-French audience will provide the spirit.
Free admission. Wine tasting starts at approx. €2.50 per 0.1L glass, depending on the variety; bottle sales on site. Food at usual festival prices.
