The 2026 season brings two distinct productions: the grand adult musical „Das Wunder von Bern" and the family play „Cinderella". Both will run concurrently from June to September.

„Das Wunder von Bern" — The World Cup Musical

The musical „Das Wunder von Bern" tells the story of Germany's 1954 World Cup victory in Bern — a pivotal moment in the history of the Federal Republic and a long-established part of popular culture. Music composed by Martin Lingnau and Frank Ramond — two renowned musical composers whose works are performed on German stages. The Hallenberg production adapts the play for the open-air stage — featuring a large ensemble, live band, and the typical open-air atmosphere of a Sauerland summer stage.

The premiere takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 3:30 PM. A total of 16 performances are planned between June and September. Start times vary: 3:30 PM (matinees), 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 8:00 PM (evening performances). The final performance is scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

„Cinderella" — The Family Play

Running concurrently is the family play „Cinderella" — the classic Cinderella story staged for children, parents, and grandparents. Premiere on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 3:30 PM. The performance season runs until September 5, 2026, and includes matinees (9:30 AM and 3:30 PM) as well as evening performances (5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 8:00 PM). Cinderella is aimed at families and is scheduled for late mornings and afternoons — ideal for a Sunday family outing to Sauerland.

The Freilichtbühne Hallenberg — Decades of Tradition

The Freilichtbühne Hallenberg is one of Westphalia's most famous amateur open-air stages. A well-rehearsed ensemble of volunteer actors, singers, musicians, and technicians from Hallenberg and the surrounding area presents two productions each year — usually a major musical for adults and a family play. The stage is located in a natural amphitheater on the edge of the town, nestled in the hilly landscape of Sauerland. Performances proceed in case of rain or are rescheduled — the stage is covered, and the audience seating is partially covered.
