Four-day Palatinate Kerwe with Hagenbach Wolves in the city center
Hagenbach bears the wolf in its town name and its coat of arms. The young Hagenbach Wolves are a local group of young Hagenbach residents who take on roles similar to the 'Kerweparrer' (Kerwe pastor) elsewhere during the festival. They stage the handover and return of the town hall key, adding a narrative element to the Kerwe that goes beyond a typical festival tent fair.
Unlike many Palatinate Kerwen, which are confined to a festival ground, the Hagenbach Kerwe spreads across the central streets of the city center. Showmen with rides, club stalls, restaurants with outdoor seating, and several stages form a continuous festival zone. This structure creates a lively atmosphere and short distances between attractions.
The Kerwe is jointly supported by local clubs and restaurants, supplemented by external showmen who set up their rides and stalls in the city center. This combination of voluntary club contributions and professional fair operations is characteristic of larger Palatinate town Kerwen. Palatinate specialties, wine, beer, and international cuisine are on the menu.
Hagenbach is located at the southernmost tip of the Palatinate, directly on the border with Baden. The town is connected to Wörth am Rhein via the L545 and to Karlsruhe via the K30. Many visitors come from the neighboring Baden communities, giving the Kerwe a slightly cross-border character.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the city of Hagenbach in the autumn. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years: opening on Saturday, festival days with club and showman operations, and the festival conclusion on Tuesday evening with the return of the town hall key.
