Multi-day Kirchweih in Flossenbürg in the northern Oberpfalz
The Flossenbürger Kirwa is the traditional Kirchweih (Kirwa) of the municipality of Flossenbürg in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district in the northern Oberpfalz, state of Bavaria. In this region, the Kirwa is a central traditional festival and is celebrated with great dedication over several days. It is organized by Murphy's Kirwa Stammtisch, the Burschenverein, and other local associations.
The Kirwa (Kirchweih) originally commemorates the consecration of the local church and is one of the most important village festivals in the Oberpfalz. Central elements include the raising of the Kirwa tree, the dancing around the tree by the Kirwa couples, and the communal celebration by young men and women – a living piece of Oberpfalz identity.

The 2026 edition of the Flossenbürger Kirwa takes place from August 21 to 24, 2026 – traditionally around the fourth Sunday in August. For four days, the municipality of Flossenbürg celebrates at the festival grounds: Kirwa Friday marks the festival opening with a live band, Saturday evening features more live music, Sunday is dedicated to the brass band and Kirwa customs, and Kirwa Monday concludes with the traditional Frühschoppen. The festival is supported by Murphy's Kirwa Stammtisch, the Burschenverein, and other local associations. The Kirwa is a social highlight in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district, in the state of Bavaria.

Flossenbürg is located in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district near the Czech border. The best way to get there is by car via the routes towards Weiden or Vohenstrauß. The Kirwa takes place at the festival grounds.
