About the Event
The KindertagsSause is the largest family festival in the event calendar of the city of Dömitz and, at the same time, one of the most important family events in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. It takes place annually around International Children's Day at the historic Festung Dömitz, a five-sided Renaissance fortress from the 16th century on the Elbe – one of the best-preserved fortress structures in Northern Germany.
Schedule and Atmosphere
Throughout the day, the fortress grounds offer a packed program for children of all ages: bouncy castles, pony rides, craft and creative activities, play stations, a stage with dance and music, and a family catering area. The extensive ramparts and courtyards of the fortress allow families to spread out comfortably across the grounds – the festival never feels overcrowded and is easy for younger children to navigate.
Location and Festung Dömitz
Festung Dömitz is one of the few surviving Renaissance fortresses in Northern Germany. It is located directly on the Elbe in the southwest of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on the border with Lower Saxony, in the Dömitz-Malliß office area. With its rampart walk, bastion, museum, and open-air stage, it is a year-round destination for history and festival visitors.
Organizers
The KindertagsSause is jointly organized by the City of Dömitz, the Dömitz-Malliß Office, and the LuK e. V. initiative. The Dömitz Tourist Information coordinates the festival program and the registration of participants.
