Open-air concerts, tribute shows, and summer nights at the fortress
Festung Dömitz is not just a 16th-century historical monument, but also a vibrant open-air venue. For many years, the fortress grounds – ramparts, courtyards, and the open-air stage – have been used by the City of Dömitz, the Tourist Information office, music associations, and external organizers such as martins-music-café for an annual concert and event series.
The programme follows a stable structure from year to year:
The series thus has a clear pop-rock focus through martins-music-café on the one hand, and a broad spectrum between classical, folk, tradition, and family programming on the other.
Festung Dömitz is located in the southwest of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, directly on the Elbe, in the Amt Dömitz-Malliß, Ludwigslust-Parchim district. It is easily accessible from Hamburg, Hanover, and Berlin and is one of the few larger open-air concert venues in the region between Hagenow and Wittenberge.
The concert and event series are organised by the City of Dömitz and the Dömitz Tourist Information office, in cooperation with martins-music-café, music associations, and external organisers. Tickets and programme updates are available via the Dömitz website, eventim.de, and the martins-music-café website.
The 2026 concert and event season at Festung Dömitz follows the proven structure of previous years and is particularly enhanced by the anniversary Rock Night celebrating the 20th anniversary of martins-music-café.
On Saturday, August 1st, 2026, starting at 8:00 PM, the fortress complex will transform into an open-air stage for the Dömitz Rock Night. The focus will be on two internationally sought-after tribute bands: the AC/DC tribute band Ballbreakers and the Status Quo specialists Quotime. Tickets are available via adticket.de, eventim.de, and martins-music-café.
Furthermore, the fortress grounds will remain open for other major events in 2026: the 20th North German Day (June 14th, 2026), International Museum Day (May 17th, 2026), Children's Day Celebration (May 30th, 2026), and likely – as in previous years – open-air concerts and opera performances in July and August.
Confirmed Dates 2026 at Festung Dömitz
Further open-air concerts and an opera performance in July/August are expected, based on experience. Updates will be published by the City of Dömitz and martins-music-café.
Dömitz Rock Night: requires tickets, advance sales via adticket.de, eventim.de, and martins-music-café. Other 2026 dates (Museum Day, North German Day, Children's Day Celebration) are entirely or partially free of charge.
By car via the B191 or B195 to Dömitz, then follow signs to the fortress. Parking is available nearby. By train to Hagenow or Ludwigslust, then continue by bus.
Depending on the event: some offerings (North German Day, Children's Day Celebration) are free, concerts and opera performances require tickets. Tickets available via martins-music-café, eventim.de, or the Tourist Information office.
