Schlicherum is one of the southern districts of the former Quirinus city of Neuss. The Kameradschaftliche Vereinigung Schlicherum 1927 organizes the annual Schützenfest — from Thursday, May 14th, to Sunday, May 17th, 2026. Four festival days featuring the Schützen parade, Vogelschuss, king proclamation, and marquee characterize the image of the district.

Rhenish Shooting Tradition

The Rhein-Kreis Neuss district is one of the strongholds of the Rhenish shooting tradition. Dozens of Schützenfeste take place in the district alone between May and October, coordinated by the Bezirksverband Neuss (District Association Neuss). Schlicherum joins this tradition — the Kameradschaftliche Vereinigung 1927 has been the central organization of the district for almost a century.

Four Festival Days with Funfair

The festival days follow the established Rhenish Schützenfest schedule: Festival opening on Thursday, king's competition on Friday, grand parade and king proclamation on Saturday, high mass and king's ball on Sunday. A funfair with rides, showman stalls, and catering services runs concurrently.

Location in the Neuss City Area

Neuss, with around 155,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest cities on the Lower Rhine and is divided into numerous districts and villages — Schlicherum is one of them. Each district maintains its own Schützenfest, explaining the density of clubs and the festival calendar in the region. The Bezirksverband Neuss publishes a comprehensive overview of all Schützenfeste in the district annually.

Kameradschaftliche Vereinigung 1927

The Kameradschaftliche Vereinigung Schlicherum 1927 is the central club structure. Unlike the Catholic brotherhoods in the Sauerland and Münsterland regions, it uses the term "Kameradschaftliche Vereinigung" — indicating a slightly different tradition with a less explicitly religious background.
