Classical concerts of the Festspiele MV in the church and the Old School Fürstenhagen
With around 190 concerts at 80 venues between mid-June and mid-September, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are among the largest classical music festivals in Europe. They take place in manor houses, barns, factories, castles, churches, and open-air stages throughout the state.
In the southwesternmost corner of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in Fürstenhagen near the Feldberg Lake District, the Festspiele operate two special venues:
Thus, the Festspiele in Fürstenhagen combine classical concert culture with one of the region's most sophisticated gastronomic addresses. The format is exemplary of the Festspiele's strategy of bringing high-quality classical music to rural, idyllic settings.
In 2026, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will celebrate their 35th anniversary. The programme has been expanded with numerous special concerts and series throughout the state. In Fürstenhagen, a concert with two Vienna Philharmonic musicians at the Alte Schule on August 27, 2026, at 5:30 PM is confirmed – followed by a three-course menu by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Schmidthaler.
Fürstenhagen is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District, on the border with Brandenburg, in close proximity to the Feldberg Lake District and the Hans Fallada Museum in Carwitz. The venue thus offers a unique combination of nature, literature, and classical music for the region.
The 2026 season of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Fürstenhagen extends from July 8 to September 4, 2026. It is part of the anniversary season celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Festspiele.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the programme opens in the Fürstenhagen Church. Subsequently, classical ensembles will perform alternately in the village church and the gourmet restaurant »Alte Schule«. A confirmed highlight: on August 27, 2026, at 5:30 PM, two members of the Vienna Philharmonic will perform in the format *»Music Goes Through the Stomach«* at the Alte Schule, followed by a three-course menu by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Schmidthaler.
The complete programme with concert dates, ensembles, and repertoire will be published by the Festspiele MV ticket shop at festspiele-mv.de/alle-konzerte.
