Italian Lifestyle on the Rhine

If you want to experience a bit of Dolce Vita on the Rhine in June without flying to Bologna or Milan, head to the Festival Stile Italiano in Neuland-Park Leverkusen. Three days of Italian open-air culture right on the Rhine embankment, with the full spectrum that Italy has to offer culinarily and culturally. The festival is part of a growing series of themed street food and lifestyle festivals in Neuland-Park and positions itself as a compact summer trip to Italy.

Culinary Journey Through Italy

The focus is on Italian gastronomy in all its diversity. Pizza makers with traditional wood-fired ovens deliver Pizza Napoletana according to the classic recipe (dough fermented for 48 hours, San Marzano DOP tomatoes, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana). Pasta stations cook fresh Tagliatelle al Ragù, Tortellini in Brodo, or regional specialties like Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa (Apulian) or Pasta alla Norma (Sicilian). Gelaterias serve real Italian Gelato with daily produced flavors. Bars serve Aperol Spritz, Campari Orange, Negroni, and of course, Espresso.

Wine, Cheese, Cured Meats

Italian wine merchants present wines from classic regions: Chianti Classico from Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino, Prosecco from Veneto, Primitivo and Negroamaro from Apulia, Nero d'Avola from Sicily. Cheese stands offer Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino Romano, Mozzarella di Bufala, and specialties like Burrata. Cured meat vendors sell Prosciutto di Parma, Bresaola, Salame di Felino. Olive oils, pesto, dried pasta, and antipasti complete the offering — available for tasting right at the stand.

Live Music from the Boot

Live acts alternate on the festival stage: Tarantella groups with tambourines and accordions, Neapolitan mandolin ensembles with classics like "O Sole Mio" and "Funiculì, Funiculà", Italo-pop cover bands with hits by Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Adriano Celentano, and Lucio Dalla, as well as modern Cantautori singer-songwriters. DJs play Italian disco hits from the 80s and 90s in the evenings.

Family Program and Atmosphere

The festival is family-friendly. A play area for children, ice cream stands with a large selection, Italian children's animation team, pizza-making workshop for kids. Italian language groups offer short introductions to the language. Tables and benches are available under canopies; picnic-style seating is also possible on the park lawns. The atmosphere is open, Mediterranean, relaxed — unlike traditional folk festivals, there's no Bavarian beer tent feeling, but a real Piazza vibe.

Neuland-Park as Festival Park

The venue is Neuland-Park directly on the Rhine. With its 20 hectares of lawn, Rhine views, and easy transport links, the park is one of the most attractive open-air locations in the Rhineland. In the summer of 2026, a dozen festivals will take place here — Live am Rhein (May), Festival der Kulturen (May), Stile Italiano (June), Street Food Festival (July/August), Holi Festival of Colours (August), LEVspielt (August), Sonnenbrand Festival (August), Wein am Rhein (September), Mallorca Festival XXL (September). Stile Italiano is an important pillar of this summer festival series.
