Lankwitz Community Park Neighborhood and Family Festival

One Afternoon, One Park, Thirty Initiatives

The Lankwitz Community Park Neighborhood and Family Festival is a classic neighborhood festival, organized by the Kamenzer Damm area coordination together with the Stadtteilzentrum Steglitz e.V. — both publicly funded structures that engage in neighborhood work in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district. The format demonstrates Berlin's neighborhood work: over thirty initiatives, clubs, schools, religious communities, and cultural organizations from the Lankwitz district and surrounding neighborhoods present themselves.

Program and Activities

The stage features a live program — from the opening to the closing concert. Acrobatics-airtrack, human kicker (giant table football with people as playing figures), face painting, and hands-on stalls are spread across the lawns. Two food trucks, a barbecue station, a crêperie, and an ice cream van cater to visitors. International contributions — such as the Ukrainian dance group Aldera e.V. — have given the festival an increasingly colorful, diasporic touch in recent years.

Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Lankwitz, and Berlin's Neighborhood Work

The Lankwitz district is located in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf borough — one of Berlin's most affluent and at the same time socially well-mixed boroughs. The community park on Malteserstraße is one of the district's most important green spaces. The event is funded by the Berlin Senate program "Strengthening Berlin's Large Housing Estates" (Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing) — a mechanism that supports neighborhood work in Berlin's large residential areas.
