About Summer Concerts Stadtpark Steglitz
Summer Concerts Stadtpark Steglitz — edition 2026

The series is a flagship event for the Leo Borchard Music School and traditionally features a wide stylistic spectrum: classical ensembles (strings, winds, piano), jazz formations, rock bands from the school's pop and jazz departments, medieval music ensembles, choirs, and a large big band concert at the end of the season.

Stadtpark Steglitz as a Summer Stage
The summer concerts in Stadtpark Steglitz are a firm tradition in the south of Berlin: for several weeks, the covered music pavilion in the park becomes an open stage for students, teachers, and guest ensembles from the Leo Borchard Music School Steglitz-Zehlendorf. The small venue at Albrechtstraße 42 — in the middle of one of the greenest corners of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district — offers the perfect backdrop for open-air concerts: lay down a blanket, grab an ice cream, and let the program come to you.
Program on a Weekend Schedule
The concerts take place every weekend — Saturdays and Sundays, at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The sets are short (around 45 minutes), so you can easily listen to two sets in a row or take a stroll through the park in between. The program changes from weekend to weekend, deliberately mixing musical genres: classical chamber music and string quartets, jazz ensembles, rock bands from the music school context, medieval ensembles, choirs, and the big band of the music school in the grand finale.
Organizers and Concept
Behind the series is the Leo Borchard Music School, the municipal music school of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district. The goal is to bring the work of students and instructors to the public in an accessible way — without concert halls, without formal attire, without admission fees. The program is regularly supplemented by external participants invited as guests. This creates unusual combinations that you might expect more in Berlin's festival program than at a district music school.
Who Attends
The audience is a classic cross-section of Steglitz: families with small children, seniors from the surrounding streets, dog owners on their Sunday walks, music fans who come specifically for an ensemble. Those who arrive early can get a spot on the benches around the pavilion — everyone else spreads out on the lawns. It's not a festival atmosphere in the classic sense, but rather a relaxed Berlin Sunday with live music.
Stadtpark Steglitz
Stadtpark Steglitz in the Steglitz district (Steglitz-Zehlendorf) is a small park designed in the early 20th century, located between Albrechtstraße and Stadtparkstraße. The music pavilion with its distinctive semi-circular roof stands at the center of the park and is its landmark. At the same time, Stadtpark Steglitz is one of the oldest green spaces in southern Berlin and represents the bourgeois park culture that has shaped Steglitz since the imperial era.
