Father's Day with Carnival Flair in Bonn-Duisdorf

The Family Festival of the Duisdorfer Funken on Father's Day is one of the most beautiful district events in the Bonn district of Duisdorf — an event that combines two Rhenish traditions: the classic Father's Day (Ascension Day) as a communal early summer festival and the club life of a Rhenish Carnival society, which, although not Carnival-themed in May, brings club spirit and Garde traditions into the family festival. In 2026, Father's Day falls on Thursday, May 14 — starting at 11:00 AM at the Schickshof on Rochusstraße.

KG Duisdorfer Funken — the Carnival Club as Organizer

The Carnival Society Duisdorfer Funken e.V. is one of the most traditional Carnival clubs in western Bonn. Like many Rhenish Carnival clubs, the KG is not only active during the five "foolish" days — throughout the year, it organizes numerous events for its members and the district public. The Father's Day family festival is one of the most important external events, along with the "Dance into May" (on April 30, 2026, in the Toni Mai Halle), the traditional boat trip, and the two major galas in November (Men's Gala on November 20, Women's Gala on November 21).

• Garde performances of the Duisdorfer Funken — the dance guards of the KG show their Carnival choreographies even outside of the season

• Catering from the Carnival repertoire: Kölsch on tap, potato pancakes, bratwurst, snack classics
• Family program throughout the day
• Father's Day atmosphere with the traditional "Bollerwagen" tours of male groups stopping in Duisdorf

Schickshof as Club House

The Schickshof on Rochusstraße is the venue for the KG Duisdorfer Funken. Various club events take place in the courtyard throughout the year — from the "Essele-Rond" (the monthly regulars' table every Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM) to major festivities like the Father's Day family festival and the hall events. The club office is located at Weierbornstraße 50.
