Four dates per year in the Dölauer Heide – Halle's traditional running series
The Heidelauf Halle is one of the oldest and most enduring running series in Saxony-Anhalt. Well over 270 races have been run on the paths of the Dölauer Heide since the 1980s – a city forest of around 740 hectares in the northwest of Halle. Four dates per year, each with a classic route through beech stands and oak avenues, make the series a constant companion of the Halle-Saale running scene.
The dates for 2026 are: March 1st (277th Heidelauf), May 17th (278th Heidelauf), September 20th, and November 8th. Distances: 5, 10, and 15 kilometers for running, plus 5 and 10 kilometers for Nordic Walking, and for the youngsters, the Youngstar run over 2.4 kilometers. The start and finish are always in front of the Heidebad on Salzmünder Straße in the Dölau / Heide-Süd district.
The courses are flat to gently rolling, almost entirely on forest paths, and well-marked. They are suitable for beginners and ambitious hobby runners alike. Those looking for a fast 5 km time will find one of the better courses in Central Germany here. The atmosphere is familiar: regulars meet at the warm-up areas before the start, followed by apple spritzer, soup, and cake in the finish area.
Halle (Saale) is a district-free city and the largest city in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The Dölauer Heide, as a city forest and local recreation area, is an important factor for the quality of life in the Saalestadt. Further hiking trails lead from the Heidebad to the game enclosure, the butterfly path, and the Saale valley.
Four race dates in the Dölauer Heide are evenly spread throughout the year, covering all weather conditions. March 1st is marked by cold, clear winter conditions; May 17th offers probably the most pleasant conditions; September 20th falls at the beginning of autumn with often good running weather; November 8th is the classic season finale.
