Eutin is located in the district of Ostholstein in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is considered the gateway to Holstein Switzerland. With a good 17,000 inhabitants, the district town is known for its classical palace, the Eutin Festival, and its location between the Great Eutin Lake and the Keller Lake. The Eutin City Festival with Grand Flea Market has been one of Schleswig-Holstein's largest summer city festivals for years and fills the city center with tens of thousands of visitors every August.

One of the Largest Flea Markets in the Region

The core of the event is the Grand Flea Market, which extends over large parts of Eutin's city center — Lübecker Straße, Stolbergstraße, Königstraße, Jungfernstieg, Schlossstraße, Peterstraße, and the city bay. Here, private sellers offer bric-a-brac, antiques, household items, and curiosities — a classic large-format flea market experience.

Three Days, Three Characters

The city festival runs for three days with different focuses:

• Friday, August 14 (8:00 PM–11:00 PM) — Opening evening event with live cover band music
• Saturday, August 15 (6:00 AM–12:00 AM) — Grand Flea Market day with music, catering, and children's program until midnight
• Sunday, August 16 (8:00 AM–6:00 PM) — Flea market, family program, and a relaxed conclusion

Children's Program Between the Castle and Castle Terraces

Specifically for children, there is a Children's Flea Market between the castle and the castle terraces — children and teenagers can run their own stalls and sell what they no longer need. Plus bouncy castles, carousels, face painting — a dedicated area that makes the city festival family-friendly.
