Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen: Gateway to Holstein Switzerland
Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen, or Malente for short, is a municipality in the Ostholstein district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is known as the Gateway to Holstein Switzerland. With around 11,000 inhabitants, it lies between the lakes Kellersee, Diecksee, and Behlersee, nestled in one of Northern Germany's most scenic regions. The Holstein Switzerland Nature Park offers rolling hills, extensive forests, and a dense network of lakes – making Malente a classic resort for hikers, cyclists, and water sports enthusiasts.
The Kurpark as a Festival Venue
Malente's Kurpark, located at Bahnhofstraße 4a, is the historic green space of the former spa town. With its large meadows, old trees, water features, and the classic Kursaal, it provides the ideal backdrop for a community festival: plenty of space for stalls, stages, play areas, and relaxed enjoyment. The Kursaal itself, a classic spa building, is used for the official part with speeches, awards, and welcomes.
The Programme
The official part in the Kursaal begins in the morning and includes a welcome by the mayor, speeches, the presentation of honors and awards, and short musical contributions. Afterwards, guests flock to the Kurpark, where the club mile opens: information stands, hands-on activities, live entertainment on the open-air stage, and food stalls from Malente's gastronomy and clubs.
Malente Community Festival — edition 2026
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the municipality of Malente once again invites you to its traditional community festival in the Kurpark. The mayor and board will welcome guests in the Kursaal with the official part – speeches, awards, and musical contributions – before the event moves to the Kurpark. There, information stands, hands-on activities, and the open-air stage with live entertainment will open.
Clubs, schools, churches, and institutions from Malente and the surrounding area will present themselves to citizens and guests. Food stalls will provide visitors with food and drinks, many of them from Malente's gastronomy and clubs.

Saturday, June 13, 2026 — Malente Kurpark
- Morning in the Kursaal — Official part with welcome by the mayor, speeches, awards, and short musical contributions
- Afternoon in the Kurpark — Opening of the club mile with information stands from clubs, schools, churches, and institutions
- Afternoon — Hands-on activities (children's play stations, craft activities, sports demonstrations)
- Live Entertainment on the open-air stage in the Kurpark
- Food & Drink at the stalls of the clubs and Malente gastronomy

Getting There
You can reach Malente via the A1 (Eutin exit) and the B76. By train to Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen (Lübeck–Kiel line). Malente station is only 200 meters from the Kurpark.
