Feuerwehrball — a North German Tradition

Wrohm is located in the district of Dithmarschen in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, in the middle of the vast Dithmarschen marshland between Heide and Albersdorf. The Wrohm Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the central pillars of the village community — and the annual Feuerwehrball is one of the biggest social events in Wrohm's event calendar.

What awaits you

The ball is a classic dance festival:

• Live music or DJ for the dance floor
• Food and drinks at the bar
• Sociability among firefighters, village community, and guests
• Raffle or lottery to benefit the fire brigade (a tradition in many years)

The venue is the Wrohmer Dörpstreff — the community village center. Starting at 8 p.m., the ball is explicitly aimed at all adults from Wrohm and the surrounding area — admission is public.

Community through Sociability

Like many Feuerwehrbälle in North Germany, the Wrohm ball serves a dual purpose: a social highlight for the village community and a source of funding for the equipment of the Volunteer Fire Brigade. The proceeds go directly to materials, protective clothing, and training. This combination of voluntary commitment and social tradition is a hallmark of Dithmarschen and Schleswig-Holstein village culture.

Wrohm — a Marsh Village with Active Club Life

The village is characterized by remarkably active club life. The 2026 event calendar includes confirmations and blood donation dates, a swimming pool season opening, the singers' festival, a fishing tournament, a bike tour with a barbecue, Highland Games, youth excursions, volleyball tournaments, a harvest festival (Erntedankfest), the traditional lantern walk, Advent wreath making, and Christmas markets. The Feuerwehrball is one of the social highlights in this busy calendar.
