One Week from Island to Island
The EWE Nordseelauf has established itself as a specific East Frisian stage running format. Seven stages take participants from the westernmost island, Borkum, through the island landscape to the easternmost island in the chain. Each stage utilizes the characteristic landscape of the time: dunes, beach, salt marshes, mudflat borders, and paved island paths.
Borkum as the Opening Island
The running date on Borkum on June 20, 2026, marks the official start of the 24th edition. Between stages, runners travel by ferries and small boats between the islands. Overnight stays are at organized points in the respective island towns. The logistical concept of the EWE Nordseelauf is so well-rehearsed that participants can concentrate on running.
Sold-Out Participant Field
Due to limited island capacities and high demand, the participant field is small and usually sells out early. For 2026, the field is already sold out; the participant list can be viewed on raceresult.com.
Event Framework
Borkum welcomes the runners with a stage festival, athlete catering, and a small supporting program on the eve of the start day. The island is accessible via ferries from Emden Outer Harbor.
