Three-day street festival in the old town of the "Neckar Pearl" Eberbach
From August 7th to 9th, 2026, the Hüttenfreunde Eberbach e.V. will host their traditional Gassenfest. The historic alleys of the old town of Eberbach — the "Neckar Pearl" — will become festival grounds, stages, and culinary streets. You can stroll through winding alleys with half-timbered houses, sit under fairy lights at set tables, eat regional specialties, and listen to live music from several corners at once.
The Hüttenfreunde Eberbach e.V. is a local club that has been organizing the Gassenfest for decades. The name "Hüttenfreunde" (Friends of the Huts) refers to the wooden huts that are set up at prominent points in the old town during the festival — small structures built with Eberbach craftsmanship, which become serving points, stages, and meeting places. Over the years, the club's festival has developed into the city's largest summer event.
Spread over the three festival days, you will experience in the various alleys:
Eberbach is located in the Rhein-Neckar district, in the picturesque Neckar valley about 30 km east of Heidelberg. With just under 14,500 inhabitants, Eberbach is a small town with a great tradition: Roman roots, a medieval city wall with defensive towers, half-timbered houses from the 16th to 18th centuries, and a spectacular location on the Neckar between mountains — hence the nickname "Neckar Pearl". Eberbach Castle (ruin) towers over the city, and the Katzenbuckel — the highest mountain in the Odenwald at 626 m — is only a few kilometers away. The Gassenfest combines this romantic city backdrop with Eberbach's vibrant club life.
The Gassenfest 2026 will run for three days in Eberbach's old town. The Hüttenfreunde Eberbach e.V., along with numerous clubs, will organize the huts in the alleys — stages for live music, serving of Baden wine and beer, food from regional cuisine. Family program during the day, lively festival atmosphere in the evening.
Free admission. Food and drinks at the huts.
By train: Eberbach station on the Heidelberg–Würzburg line, regular connections. Located directly in the center. By car: A5 exit Heidelberg, then B37 towards Neckartal (approx. 35 km).
Free admission.
Combine your visit to the festival with a hike to Eberbach Castle or a boat trip on the Neckar — Eberbach is an ideal starting point for exploring the Odenwald.
