Culinary spring festival with dinner evenings, safari, and gala evening
Since its premiere, the Erlangen Enjoyment Festival has become a fixed date in the spring calendar for Middle Franconia. The organizer is the Erlangen Tourism and Marketing Association e.V. (ETM), which developed the idea from the city's gastronomy scene: for ten days in March, selected restaurants present special menus, while shops in the old town offer culinary samples.
The festival rests on three clearly structured program pillars. During the Dinner Evenings, participating restaurants serve special menus, often with a regional focus or guest chefs. The Enjoyment Safari takes place throughout the old town on all festival days; participating shops – including delicatessens, wine shops, and cafés – open their doors for tastings and special promotions. The crowning finale is the Gala Evening “Cooking with Friends” featuring a prominent Michelin-starred chef from the region.
Erlangen, a university city in Middle Franconia with just under 115,000 inhabitants, has built up a remarkably dense restaurant scene in recent years. The Enjoyment Festival is the annual highlight of this development – a format that collectively showcases the city center's gastronomy while also providing a stage for regional producers, Franconian winemakers, and chefs from the Nuremberg metropolitan region.
The 2026 edition is the largest to date. Eleven Erlangen restaurants will serve special menus, including established venues like Restaurant Herzstück and Santiago's Kitchen, as well as newcomers like Restaurant Basilikum and Italia Tradizionale. The Enjoyment Safari will take place throughout the old town for all ten festival days, involving twelve shops offering culinary samples and special promotions.
The grand finale is the gala evening “Cooking with Friends” on March 21st, 2026, starting at 6 PM at Alter Brunnen in Marloffstein, with Michelin-starred chef Maximilian Stock as host. Tickets are available until March 3rd, 2026, through the Erlangen Tourist Information.
