The largest comic festival in the German-speaking world
Since 1984, the International Comic Salon Erlangen has been the central meeting point for the comic scene in the German-speaking world. Every two years – in even-numbered years – Erlangen's city center becomes a stage for graphic literature. The diverse program of exhibitions, lectures, readings, and panel discussions attracts an audience from home and abroad.
Around 300 exhibitors present their programs in the Heinrich-Lades-Halle and other locations: publishers, agencies, comic dealers, artist groups, individual artists, and comic classes from universities. The fair is the economic and creative heart of the Salon.
The festive awarding of the Max und Moritz Prize in the Markgrafentheater is one of the festival's highlights. The prize is considered the most important award for graphic literature in the German-speaking world and is presented in several categories as well as for lifetime achievement.
Exhibitions spread throughout the city center showcase international stars, German-language comics, emerging talents, and thematic country focuses – including at the Stadtmuseum and the Kunstpalais. Over 500 artists can be experienced at signing sessions, drawing sessions, artist talks, and readings.
With the four-day children's festival "Kinder lieben Comics" (Children Love Comics), the Comic Podium with expert lectures, a film festival, workshops, performances, and concerts, the Salon appeals to fans of all ages.
The 22nd edition of the International Comic Salon Erlangen spans four days, from Thursday, June 4th, to Sunday, June 7th, 2026. The entire city center of Erlangen will once again become the stage for graphic literature.
The Max und Moritz Prize for outstanding lifetime achievement in 2026 will be awarded to British comic author Posy Simmonds. Over 30 authors – including Lewis Trondheim, Ulli Lust, Mawil, and Anna Haifisch – will be present, among others at the stand of Reprodukt Verlag. The children's festival "Kinder lieben Comics" celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Detailed signing sessions and program times will be announced on-site and on comic-salon.de.
