Düren City Run — Running Sport Premiere in the City Centre

With the Düren City Run, urban running returns to the heart of the district town on July 12, 2026. The 1st edition sets a clear focus: start and finish on the Market Square, a course through the centre of Düren, four different competitions for hobby runners, families, and ambitious athletes. The organisers' motto — 'Düren Moves' — is a visible signal to the city: running belongs in public spaces.

Four Competitions for All Age Groups

The day starts family-oriented and builds up to the sporting competition in the afternoon:

• 10:00 AM — Kids' Runs (for the little ones and school children)
• 12:15 PM — 5 km presented by Parma Immobilien
• 1:30 PM — 10 km (Main Race)
• 3:30 PM — First or Burst (elimination race on a 500-m loop)

First or Burst — The Showdown

The highlight in the late afternoon is 'First or Burst': on a 500-meter course in the city centre, runners are eliminated after each kilometre until only the finalists compete in the last lap. A mix of a classic race and an elimination game that ensures excitement — for participants and spectators alike.

Prize Structure

In the main races, the top 3 men and women receive prize money and merchandise; places 4–5 receive non-cash prizes. A classification that appeals equally to ambitious hobby runners and club athletes.

Düren — District Town Between Aachen and Cologne

Düren is strategically located between Aachen and Cologne in western North Rhine-Westphalia, at the transition from the Lower Rhine Bay to the Eifel region. With around 92,000 inhabitants, it is the largest municipality between the two metropolises — and an important economic centre for the paper industry. The new city run joins a growing number of urban sports events (see also the Düren Company Run at the Badesee).

Partnership with Parma Immobilien

Parma Immobilien is the main partner for the premiere and finances the 5 km run. This constellation between city marketing, local economy, and sports organisation is typical for the initiation of a new city run format — and a prerequisite for the financial success of the first editions.
