Advent market on the 3rd Advent weekend in the small Hunsrück town
Rheinböllen, with its approximately 4,100 inhabitants, is located on the A 61 motorway and is easily accessible via the exit of the same name. The small town sees itself as the western gateway to the Hunsrück and Soonwald regions. The annual Christmas market in mid-December is one of the few larger events in the town's Advent calendar and is jointly organized by the Simmern-Rheinböllen municipality and the local business association.
The market offerings are classically Advent-themed: arts and crafts (wood carvings, felt work, ceramics, jewelry), Advent decorations (wreaths, arrangements, stars), regional food products (honey, jams, liqueurs, bratwurst, cheese), as well as the obligatory hot food and drinks: mulled wine, children's punch, spit-roasted pork, potato pancakes, gingerbread, candied almonds. Local clubs – fire department, sports, church communities – serve food at their own stands.
The market is family-oriented and manageable: those looking for an authentic, quieter Advent visit away from the big city markets will find it here. Musical accompaniment is provided by local choirs and brass ensembles. A St. Nicholas or Santa Claus distributes sweets to children.
Its location directly on the A 61 motorway also makes Rheinböllen attractive for day-trippers from the Rhine-Main region, Bingen, and Bad Kreuznach – a market visit can be well combined with a stroll through the Hunsrück hilly landscape to create an Advent excursion.
The 2026 market continues the proven concept from the previous year: a compact Advent market with a family atmosphere, club participation, and musical accompaniment in the small Hunsrück town directly on the A 61 motorway.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: market stalls in the center, catering by clubs, musical supporting program, St. Nicholas visit.
