Faasenacht in Dudweiler — firmly anchored in Saarbrücken's north

With around 25,000 inhabitants, Dudweiler is the most populous district of Saarbrücken and each year organizes one of the largest Faasenacht parades in the Saarbrücken regional association. The fact that the parade takes place today is thanks to the Festausschuss Dudweiler Faasenacht e.V. (Dudweiler Faasenacht Festival Committee), in which seven Karneval associations pool their strengths.

Seven associations, one festival committee

The festival committee unites the Kulturgemeinschaft Pfaffenkopf, Grüne Nelke, Dudweiler Carneval Club (DCC), Heimat- und Kulturverein Dudweiler, Kaltnaggischer Gardistencorps, Geisekippcher Buwe unn Määde, and other local groups. They all provide floats, guards, bands, and walking groups for the annual Sunday parade — a logistical masterpiece accompanied by eight days of preliminary program.

A week of Faasenacht — from handover negotiations to the parade

The Saarbrücken district Faasenacht begins with the handover negotiations at the Dudweiler community center (Wednesday before Faasenacht): Mayor Ralf-Peter Fritz and politicians negotiate the symbolic handover of power with the prince and princess before an audience. This is followed by sessions, the Friday town hall storm with performances by the seven associations, and finally the grand parade on Sunday starting at 1:11 PM.

Diversity as a motto focus

The motto for 2026 was “Dudweiler ist bunt" (Dudweiler is colorful) — a clear commitment to diversity in Saarbrücken's north. The group “Blumen der Ukraine" (Flowers of Ukraine) in traditional costume and the workshop for people with disabilities from Altenwald have become regular participants, alongside the more traditional dance groups and float-building groups. Original formations like the Tus-Schlümpfen and the Graffiti Girls provide unusual accents.

The route through Dudweiler

Assembly begins at 1:11 PM in Kalkofenstraße. The procession moves via Herrensohrer Weg into Saarbrücker Straße, past Villa Micka through the pedestrian zone to Christuskirche. Police, fire brigade, and paramedics secure the route. Afterwards, the associations continue celebrating in the KGP bar, the DCC disco, and the restaurants along Saarbrücker Straße.

Faasenacht Dudweiler — edition 2026

On February 15, 2026, the Dudweiler Faasenacht parade will take place under the motto “Dudweiler ist bunt” starting at 1:11 PM through the Saarbrücken district. In the lead-up: handover negotiations on Wednesday, town hall storm on Friday.

The Dudweiler Faasenacht Festival Committee e.V. confirmed the 2026 Faasenacht season with a packed program. Under the motto “Dudweiler ist bunt,” the parade focuses on the diversity of the district's society — from the group “Blumen der Ukraine” and the workshop for people with disabilities Altenwald to creative formations like the Tus-Schlümpfen and Graffiti Girls.

The handover negotiations on Wednesday, February 11, at the Dudweiler community center opened the season. On Friday, February 13, the town hall storm followed. The highlight is the parade on Sunday, with assembly in Kalkofenstraße, marching via Herrensohrer Weg, Saarbrücker Straße, Villa Micka, and the pedestrian zone to Christuskirche.
