A Day Full of Choral Music

The Chorfestival im Park is one of the traditional choir formats in the Saarbrücken regional association. In a single day, the Saarbrücken District Choir Association (KCV) bundles the broad choral life of the region: mixed choirs, men's choirs, women's choirs, young voices, pop choirs, and church choirs perform one after another on an open-air stage in Dudweiler City Park.

Dudweiler City Park as a Stage

Dudweiler City Park on Klosterstraße is the natural home of the festival. The well-maintained park in Saarbrücken's largest district offers a shady meadow, seating, and a tree-lined setting that is acoustically and atmospherically ideal for choral music. You sit on the grass or on the benches and experience the choirs in comparatively intimate proximity.

Diversity of Repertoire

The program ranges from classical repertoire to sacred music and modern pop and gospel arrangements. Each choir has its own short block, creating a vibrant soundscape of the Saarland's choral scene throughout the day. In 2023, 15 choirs performed, opened by the local choir Harmonie Dudweiler – similar dimensions are expected in 2026.

Club, Catering, and Community

Catering is provided by Dudweiler clubs: cake, bratwurst, coffee, and Saarschoppen – all at fair prices, with proceeds remaining in the district. This makes the festival a meeting point for the citizens of Dudweiler, reaching far beyond the immediate choir circle.

Saarbrücken and its Choral Tradition

In Saarland, and especially in the Saarbrücken regional association, singing in a choir has a long tradition. The District Choir Association brings together numerous choirs and sees the festival as a showcase for its member life – and as an invitation to everyone to experience the often underestimated choral scene in a relaxed atmosphere in the park.

Chorfestival im Park — edition 2026

On May 23, 2026, the Saarbrücken District Choir Association invites you to the Chorfestival im Park in Dudweiler from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Several regional choirs perform one after another on an open-air stage in the city park, with catering by local clubs and free admission.

The patron of the 2026 edition is District Mayor Dr. Carolin Lehberger. The day will run continuously as usual: a choir changes every 25 to 30 minutes, with time for mingling and refreshments at the club stands in between. The participating choirs will be announced in advance on the association's website kcv-sb.de.
