Fragrant market in the castle courtyard as the highlight of the Bad Bergzaberner Land Rose Weeks with roses, rose sparkling wine, and arts and crafts
The Bad Bergzabern Rose Market is the social and sensory highlight of the Bad Bergzaberner Land Rose Weeks. On the weekend of May 30 and 31, 2026, the historic castle courtyard will be transformed into a fragrant market dedicated to the queen of flowers. Rose breeders, florists, vintners with rose sparkling wine, artists, and craftspeople will present their work in the baroque castle ambiance.
The market is embedded within the Bad Bergzaberner Land Rose Weeks from May 23 to June 14, 2026 – a three-week themed season during which restaurants serve rose menus, florists showcase rose exhibitions, and guided rose walks through the spa town are offered. Bad Bergzabern has consistently continued this rose tradition for years, drawing attention to the Mediterranean atmosphere of the spa town.
The 16th-century Bad Bergzabern Castle, with its baroque expansion, forms the backdrop for the Rose Market. The inner courtyard will be filled with market stalls, seating areas, floral decorations, and a stage. Between the sandstone walls, the scent of thousands of roses unfolds – a place where visual, olfactory, and gastronomic impressions merge.
Rose breeders from German-speaking countries will present potted roses, bedding roses, climbing roses, wild roses, and historical varieties for sale. Florists will showcase their floral artistry and create bouquets. Workshops on rose care, grafting, and arranging will be offered, providing visitors with practical tips for their own gardens.
Vintners from the Palatinate will serve rose sparkling wine – single-varietal Pinot Noir sparkling wines and cuvées that have become a trademark of the Southern Wine Route in recent years. Confectioners will offer rose pralines, rose macarons, rose jelly, and rose cake, while restaurants in the vicinity will serve menus featuring rose water, rose pepper, and edible flower petals.
The Rose Market is part of a multi-week themed program running from May 23 to June 14, 2026. In Bad Bergzabern, Klingenmünster, Pleisweiler-Oberhofen, and neighboring towns, rose exhibitions, rose tours, concerts in the castle gardens, and special culinary events will take place. The concept positions the southernmost Palatinate as a "Mediterranean region north of the Alps" and uses the rose as a guiding tourism motif.
Rose sales, floristry workshops, rose care courses, rose sparkling wine tasting, rose pralines, rose cake, rose menus in the town's restaurants. The castle courtyard will be set up with market stalls, seating areas, floral decorations, and a small stage. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
