District festival of the Schwerin neighbourhoods Großer Dreesch, Mueßer Holz and Neu Zippendorf
The Dreescher Stadtteilfest is the annual neighbourhood festival of the Schwerin districts Großer Dreesch, Mueßer Holz and Neu Zippendorf. It takes place on the meadow by the TV tower — a central meeting point in Großer Dreesch. Unlike a classic city festival, it doesn't focus on amusement rides or commercial stalls, but on the people and organisations of the district: More than thirty clubs, initiatives, and institutions jointly shape the programme.
Music and dance alternate on stage, while hands-on activity stands, a circus tent with creative activities, and a children's programme invite visitors to linger. Activity stands offer international food — an expression of the cultural diversity of the neighbourhoods. The International Fire Brigade Museum Schwerin opens its doors on this day. The festival is in the tradition of neighbourly cooperation; in 2025, the motto was "Together & Sustainable" — with reusable tableware and a mobile dishwashing station as a visible sign.
Großer Dreesch is Schwerin's largest prefabricated housing estate, built in the 1970s. Together with Mueßer Holz and Neu Zippendorf, it forms a residential area for many thousands of people in the south of the state capital. The neighbourhood management supports the districts in their development; the district festival is one of its most visible formats — a day on which the neighbourhood celebrates itself.
Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is more than just a castle and an old town. The Dreescher Stadtteilfest highlights a part of the city that often stands in the shadow of the historic city centre — and makes it tangible how committed neighbourhood work is in the south of Schwerin. With free admission, the festival is open to all.
From 2 PM to 5 PM, the meadow by the TV tower transforms into a festival ground for the three Schwerin districts. More than thirty clubs, initiatives, and institutions shape the programme: Music and dance alternate on stage, hands-on activity stands, a circus tent, and a children's programme invite visitors to linger, while activity stands offer international food.
The district festival focuses on the neighbourhood. It offers diverse insights into the activities of the participating clubs. The organisers are the neighbourhood management Dreesch / Mueßer Holz / Neu Zippendorf.
The complete stage and stand programme will be announced by the neighbourhood management at dreesch-schwerin.de.
Admission to the Dreescher Stadtteilfest is free. Food and drinks are offered at the activity stands.
