Summer Festival on Lake Schwerin

The Stadtwerke-Strandfest is the largest summer festival of the state capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The venue is Zippendorf Beach in the Schwerin district of Zippendorf – the popular lido directly on the shore of Lake Schwerin. For one June weekend, the beach transforms into a large festival site for families and water sports enthusiasts. The organizer is Stadtwerke Schwerin GmbH.

Energy Arena and Stage Program

At the heart of the festival is the "Energie-Arena," where beach versions of football, handball, and badminton can be tried out. Live music creates the atmosphere on stage – on Sunday, an NDR choir competition with nine choirs will perform, among others. The traditional Neptune's baptism is also part of the program, as are numerous hands-on activities.

Children's Land and Island Excursion

For the youngest guests, there is the "Stromzwerge-Kinderland" with trampolines, a water slide, and a bouncy castle. A special experience is the excursion to the island of Kaninchenwerder: A ferry takes visitors to the island in Lake Schwerin for a small surcharge, where nature experiences, fishing, archery, yoga, and culinary specialties await.

A Festival for the Whole City

With its 16th edition in 2026, the Stadtwerke-Strandfest has firmly established itself in Schwerin's summer calendar. It is a meeting point for families, sports enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike and underscores the city's close connection to water. The festival opens at 11 am on both days, and admission is free.
