The Fritz Reuter Stage is Germany's most important Low German theatre and has been part of the Mecklenburg State Theatre Schwerin for decades. With »Krawall in'n Häuhnerstall«, it brings a Low German rock revue to the open-air stage in the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum — integrated into the Castle Festival 2026 programme.
Concept
World hits by ABBA, The Beatles, and other classics of rock and pop history are translated into Low German, reinterpreted in dynamic live arrangements, and linked with a humorous storyline. The mix of music, acting, and Mecklenburg dialect appeals to a broad family audience — from Low German speakers to summer guests hearing the language for the first time.
Venue
The Open-Air Museum for Folklore Schwerin-Mueß showcases historic farmhouses from all over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on a spacious site on the Schwerin Lake. The open-air stage in the museum offers an authentic backdrop of thatched-roof buildings and rural charm — turning the theatre evening into an experience between art and landscape in Schwerin's equivalent of a rural district.
