A Festival of All Associations Every Two Years
Bodelshausen's Dorfstraßenfest follows a common model in Swabia: a large village festival every two years, supported by the entire community. In 2026, it's time again – on July 25 and 26, Bodelshausen's associations will take over the Hauptstraße. The last edition in 2024 was a great success, with hundreds of residents and guests from neighboring towns experiencing two summer days of village community.
The Hauptstraße as a Festival Mile
Along the entire length of the Hauptstraße – the main traffic artery through Bodelshausen – the associations set up their marquees, stages, and food stalls. The street is closed to traffic for the entire weekend. You can stroll along the festival mile, try specialties from various association stands – from the music association to the fire department and the rural women's association – and meet acquaintances and neighbors everywhere.
Live Music and Stage Program
On several stages along the street, Bodelshausen and guest music associations, singing clubs, local bands, and dance groups perform. The Bodelshausen Music Association forms the musical backbone, complemented by school and kindergarten choirs. Saturday evening traditionally features longer celebrations with dance music late into the night.
Children's Program and Family Friendliness
For the little ones, there's a bouncy castle, face painting, craft activities, a children's train, and a stage program with interactive activities on Sunday afternoon. This clearly positions the festival as a multi-generational event – parents can relax while the children play independently.
Bodelshausen – At the Foot of the Swabian Jura
Bodelshausen, a community of around 6,000 inhabitants in the Tübingen district, is located at the foot of the Swabian Jura, southwest of Tübingen. The historic town center with its half-timbered houses, the 15th-century parish church of St. Stephanus, and its location on the Hagenbrunner stream make the town worth visiting. For hikers, Bodelshausen is a starting point for tours onto the Jura – for example, to the Hohenzollernturm or Hohenzollern Castle.
