Two-day village festival at Rathausplatz in the Biberach district
Burgrieden belongs to the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg and lies between Laupheim and Wain in the Upper Swabian hill country. The annual village festival at Rathausplatz has been one of the most important dates in the community calendar for decades – a weekend where the clubs, families, and the municipal administration celebrate a piece of Burgrieden's way of life together.
The village festival is organised by the municipality together with local clubs – from the music association to the fire brigade to the sports club. Each club takes over a stand, a kitchen, a programme item. The result is a dense, local programme that arises from Burgrieden's club life and could not be celebrated in the same way anywhere else.
The musical programme ranges from the opening concert by the music association on Saturday to regional cover bands and dance performances by local groups on Sunday. A central programme item is the children's flea market: children set up their own stalls, selling toys, books, and crafts – the money stays directly within the family. Experience shows that dozens of children set up creative stalls in the Rathausplatz.
The club stands offer Upper Swabian classics: Maultaschen, Schupfnudeln, Käsknöpfle, baked trout, bratwurst from the charcoal grill, accompanied by coffee and cake from the local women's association bakeries, as well as draft beer and summer wines from the region.
The village festival places great emphasis on being family-friendly. Seating under umbrellas, play areas for children, evening live music at a moderate volume, everything within walking distance – you don't need tickets, no reservations, and you can drop by spontaneously.
As is traditional, the Burgrieden village festival takes place on the second-to-last weekend in June – in 2026, this means June 20th and 21st. The Rathausplatz will be furnished with beer benches, club stands, stages, and play areas. Saturday's programme starts in the afternoon with the music association and live bands, while cover bands provide a party atmosphere in the evening. Sunday is more family-oriented: a children's flea market in the morning, dance performances by local groups in the afternoon.
Programme based on general Burgrieden tradition – final times and bands will be published on burgrieden.de in early June 2026.
