Three days of village community and sport in the southern Elbe-Elster district
Schraden is a small village in the Amt Plessa, Elbe-Elster district, with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. This is precisely what makes the annual Dorf- und Sportfest (village and sports festival) so special: everyone knows everyone here, and the whole village celebrates together. For three days, the sports field and village center are transformed into a festival mile with a marquee, stages, games, and club stands. The 2026 festival will take place on the last weekend of June — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 26–28.
The name Dorf- und Sportfest says it all: the organizer is the Dorf- und Sportverein (DSV) Schraden e.V., which traditionally combines sport and conviviality. The sports program includes:
Parallel to the sports events, the social program takes place in the festival tent:
Schraden belongs to the Amt Plessa in the Elbe-Elster district — one of Brandenburg's sparsely populated, rural regions between Cottbus and Dresden. The administrative term 'Amt Plessa' refers to an administrative structure used jointly for several small municipalities in Brandenburg. Schraden, Plessa, Mühlberg/Elbe, and other villages share administration and school facilities.
In a federal state with over 11,000 villages, village festivals like the Schraden festival are the heart of local culture. They are often the only opportunity in the year for the entire village community to come together — generations, children who have moved away, and new arrivals from the city. Those who want to experience Brandenburg authentically should not go to Berlin or Potsdam, but to a village like Schraden on a June weekend.
The Dorf- und Sportfest Schraden 2026 is planned as a three-day festival on the last weekend of June: Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026. The organizer is the Dorf- und Sportverein (DSV) Schraden e.V. in cooperation with the Amt Plessa.
The detailed program will be announced by the DSV in advance. As per the established format, sports competitions (football tournament, fun run), festival tent events with live music and disco, as well as family and children's activities are expected.
