Three-day anniversary music festival of the Spielmannszug Hirschfeld in the Amt Schradenland
Hirschfeld is a municipality in the Amt Schradenland, Elbe-Elster district, in the southernmost part of Brandenburg, on the border with Saxony. The region around the Schraden — a historical lowland area between the Elster and Pulsnitz rivers — is characterized by wet meadows, forests, and small villages. Hirschfeld has around 800 inhabitants and is known for its exceptionally active club life, especially the Spielmannszug.
The Spielmannszug TV „Deutsche Eiche" Hirschfeld e.V. was founded in 1906, making it one of the oldest Spielmannszüge in Brandenburg. Spielmannszüge are a traditional form of marching music with flutes, drums, pipes, and lyres — historically originating from the military, today primarily maintained in clubs and at folk festivals (Volksfeste). The Hirschfeld „Deutsche Eiche" has played continuously for over 120 years — at Schützenfeste, Stadtfeste, May Day celebrations, and regional gatherings.
The 2026 music festival spans the entire weekend from June 12th to 14th. Friendly Spielmannszüge and music associations from Brandenburg and Saxony are expected, along with a large festival parade, a festival tent with catering, evening dance events, and an ecumenical festival service for the anniversary. The Amt Schradenland officially lists the event in its calendar as a highlight of regional club life.
Anyone who wants to experience authentic Brandenburg club life beyond the big city festivals will find it at the Musikfest Hirschfeld. 120 years of club history are condensed into this weekend — a tradition that is by no means a given in an era when many small clubs face challenges with attracting new members. Free admission, catering by the association.
