Cosy wine festival in the romantic rectory garden
The Donnersdorfer Gadenweinfest is one of the most popular wine festivals in the wine-growing community of Donnersdorf in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt, Bavaria. Organised by the association Heimat & Wein e.V., the cosy festival takes place in the idyllic rectory garden in the town centre – a romantic setting at the foot of the Steigerwald.
The focus is on the fine Donnersdorf wines, complemented by fresh beer, Franconian specialities, popular grilled Steckerlfisch, as well as bread and homemade cakes and pastries. A sparkling wine bar and a dance floor are open on all festival days and invite you to linger.
Various groups and brass bands provide musical entertainment throughout the weekend – from international hits and current songs to traditional brass music. The traditional Franconian "Donnersdorfer Schlachtschüssel" (a hearty pork dish), freshly served from the pot, provides the traditional finale.
The Gadenweinfest is a prime example of the vibrant wine culture of the Franconian Steigerwald and is a convivial meeting place for locals and guests.
