What makes Donau in Flammen unique: the pyrotechnics are fired not from a raft or platform, but directly from the Vilshofen Danube bridge. The entire bridge structure becomes a stage for fireworks that bathe the river between the two banks in glowing colors. For this, the Danube bridge is closed to traffic from 9:50 PM to 10:30 PM — a logistical effort that underscores the event's importance for Vilshofen.
Freier Event & Pyro from Altdorf
The pyrotechnic concept has been provided for years by Freier Event & Pyro from Altdorf in Lower Bavaria — one of the most distinguished pyrotechnics companies in Southern Germany. Every year, the fireworks are given a new, secret motto, which is only revealed at the grand finale. The choreography is musically synchronized.
Special Boat Trips Wurm + Noé
The shipping company Wurm + Noé offers its own special boat trips for Donau in Flammen — departures from both Vilshofen and Passau. The ships anchor on the Danube during the fireworks, allowing guests to experience the pyrotechnic highlight directly from the water. On Friday, July 10th, and Saturday, July 11th, 2026, the Vilshofen Danube bridge will once again transform into a glowing pyrotechnic stage. Donau in Flammen — one of Bavaria's most renowned bridge fireworks displays — attracts thousands of visitors from Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic to both banks of the Danube every year.
The pyrotechnicians from Freier Event & Pyro from Altdorf are preparing another spectacular program for 2026. The motto remains strictly secret until the grand finale. Festival operations on the Danube promenade start in the late afternoon, and the bridge fireworks begin at 10 PM each night.

- 5:00 PM — Parking lots open at the airfield and Berger parking lot

Admission to the festival grounds on the Danube promenade is free. Food and drinks at the stands at usual festival prices.

Getting There
By Car: A3 exit Vilshofen, then follow event signs. Official parking lots at the airfield and at the Berger parking lot from 5 PM.
Motorhomes: Only allowed on the Volksfestplatz (fairground).
By Train: Vilshofen station is directly on the Danube bank.
By Boat: Special boat trips by Wurm + Noé shipping company from Vilshofen and Passau.
Traffic Notice
Danube bridge closed every Friday and Saturday from 9:50 PM to 10:30 PM — detour required.
Rules
The following are not allowed on the festival grounds: pets, own food/drinks, own chairs.
