City festival in Taxispark — Lantern Festival with lantern parade and fireworks plus Family and Children's Festival
Dillingen an der Donau, the former university and episcopal city in the Swabian Danube Valley, celebrates its city festival in the idyllic Taxispark with »Dillingen feiert«. Organized by the City of Dillingen in collaboration with the Dillingen Business Association (Wirtschaftsvereinigung Dillingen e.V.), the festival combines two days with distinct characters: an atmospheric festival evening and a family day.
The traditional Lampionfest (Lantern Festival) marks the beginning. It starts on Saturday at 5 PM with a standing concert by the Dillinger Stadtkapelle, the Dillinger Spielmannszug, the "Donautaler" from Fristingen-Kicklingen, and the Steinheimer Musikanten. At 6 PM, Mayor Frank Kunz and representatives of the business association will officially open the festival with the Bieranstich (beer tapping). From 7 PM onwards, a cover band will perform, and children can craft their own lanterns at a dedicated station. Around 9:30 PM, the Lampionumzug (lantern parade) will commence through Taxispark, showcasing the children's handmade lanterns. At approximately 10:30 PM, a spectacular fireworks display will illuminate the Dillingen night sky.
The following day is dedicated to the Familien- und Kinderfest (Family and Children's Festival). It begins at 10 AM with a hearty Frühschoppen, including a Weißwurst breakfast, in Taxispark. Throughout the day, numerous free games, amusement rides, and a diverse program for children and parents will be offered.
On both days, various food stalls will cater to visitors with multicultural specialties — from crêpes and gyros to fish on a stick and vegetarian options, complemented by fine wines and spirits. Dillingen, with its baroque old town, castle, and collegiate church, invites visitors to combine their festival experience with a city tour.
»Dillingen feiert« 2026 will be held on Saturday, July 4th (Lantern Festival) and Sunday, July 5th, 2026 (Family and Children's Festival) in Taxispark. The organizers are the City of Dillingen and the Dillingen Business Association e.V.
