Night festival on the Burginsel – Motto "Masquerade Ball", Dress Code White
The Burginsel in the middle of the Graft is a historic island location, surrounded by water and accessible via narrow bridges. On a mild summer night, it becomes the perfect stage for a theatrical festival that plays with light, sound, and staging.
Each edition of Burginselträume follows its own motto. In 2026, it is the "Masquerade Ball" – a homage to Venetian tradition. The dress code is White, and masks are handed out to guests at the entrance. This creates a uniform, atmospheric image: hundreds of white-clad figures with masks in the glow of the light installations.
The gates open at 9 PM. Upon arrival, guests receive their masks and can get their first impressions of the staged Burginsel. Around 10 PM, the main program begins, lasting about 90 minutes. It includes performances, shows, and choreographed sequences that interpret the respective motto.
Several dance floors with different music styles are spread across the island. Street theater groups perform among the trees, interactive shows and games invite participation, and light installations transform the historic ramparts into another world.
Tickets cost €16 in advance and €18 at the box office. They are available through the ticket shop of the KulturBüro Delmenhorst (Reservix). The Burginsel is centrally located and best reached on foot or by bike.
For years, Burginselträume has been one of the highlights of the Delmenhorst summer cultural program. The combination of a historic location, a creative motto, and a participatory character makes the festival an insider tip on the North German festival scene.
The 11th edition plays with the Venetian tradition of the masquerade ball. Hundreds of white-clad visitors with masks on a historic island amidst a water landscape – the visual concept is as impressive as it is participatory.
The combination of theater, dance, light art, and interactive activities makes Burginselträume a festival that appeals to all senses and dissolves the boundaries between stage and audience.
