Concert series in the historic castle courtyard on the Danube
Dillingen Castle has towered over the edge of the town center for centuries and was once the seat of the Prince-Bishops of Augsburg. Today, it is a cultural and event venue — and in July, its castle courtyard becomes an open-air concert hall under the sky. The Schloss Open Air series combines several evenings with different genres each season: Italo-pop tributes, classical music, parties, and Schlager.
Unlike a classic festival with a central organizer, the Schloss Open Air is a curated series by various bodies. The Schlossbeben party is organized by the Faschingsfreunde Steinheim, the classical evenings by the Orchestervereinigung Dillingen and the Kulturring, and other evenings by the city or third parties. The result: a diverse program in the same spectacular setting.
Dillingen an der Donau is the district town of the district of the same name in Bavarian Swabia, about 40 km northeast of Augsburg. The Danube town was the seat of the Prince-Bishops of Augsburg until the 19th century — a history that still shapes the castle and the baroque old town today.
The 2026 edition of Schloss Open Air offers a deliberately broad program in the baroque castle courtyard of Dillingen an der Donau. It kicks off with an Italian night featuring the tribute band Dove c'è Musica, followed by the traditional Schlossbeben party by the Faschingsfreunde Steinheim. The Orchestervereinigung Dillingen presents the classical highlight with the summer serenade "OPErN AIR — Klassik ohne Grenzen." The event concludes with a Schlager night offering free admission.
Tickets for individual concerts are available depending on the organizer via the City of Dillingen, Kulturring Dillingen, Faschingsfreunde Steinheim, or advance booking platforms like ADticket.de.
