International culinary delights and stage program on the 2nd Advent weekend
Delitzsch is a traditional town in the Nordsachsen district, located between Leipzig and Halle on the edge of the emerging Saxon Lake District. With its Baroque palace and historic market square buildings, the town offers an attractive backdrop for its Advent market, which has become one of the most diverse in Central Germany over the years.
What distinguishes the Delitzscher Adventsmarkt from the classic model is its culinary diversity: In addition to regional specialties such as Salzwedel Baumkuchen and Pulsnitz Pfefferkuchen, more than 80 stalls offer international delicacies — Trdelník from Bohemia, Khachapuri from Georgia, Takoyaki from Japan, Poffertjes from the Netherlands, Macarons from France, Flammlachs from Scandinavia. A small globe of Advent culinary delights in the heart of Nordsachsen.
In the weather-protected area of the event house «Markt Zwanzig», glassblowers, ceramists, and wood designers present their craftsmanship. This mix of an outdoor market and a covered handicraft area makes the market pleasant and accessible even in bad weather and secures a firm place for creative crafts alongside culinary offerings.
A continuous program on the stage — including live bands like «PlanZwoo» and «Golden Mary» — provides musical accompaniment. For children, there are donkey rides, carousel and train rides, as well as a free wooden toy mobile on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The city closes the street in front of the town hall to traffic during the market and integrates it into the event area.
The 2026 edition uses the full width of the market square and integrates the street in front of the town hall into the event area. The weather-protected «Markt Zwanzig» area provides space for craftspeople. The Economic Development of the City of Delitzsch coordinates the program.
The Friday opening on December 4 at 2 PM begins with performances by the city's kindergartens, who kick off the program with dance and song. Only then do the regional bands take over. Sunday is also a Sunday with extended shopping hours — the shops in the city center are open and complement the market offerings.
Full stage program will be published shortly before the market on delitzsch.de.
Delitzsch is located about 25 km north of Leipzig, accessible via the A9 (exit Bitterfeld) and the B184. S-Bahn S2 from Leipzig (approx. 25 minutes).
