About Schlosskonzert Delitzsch
Schlosskonzert Delitzsch — edition 2026
Premiere — A New Concert Series
In 2026, Delitzsch Baroque Palace is launching a new event series with the Open-Air Palace Concert, presenting it under an ambitious thematic program: «Süß & Bitter — Music of the Golden Twenties». In the Baroque palace garden — geometrically strict, with boxwood ornaments and a central axis — the audience will be seated outdoors; the stage is set up in front of the palace building, which will be illuminated at dusk.
The Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie — Germany's only professional wind symphony orchestra, based in Bad Lausick — will perform music by Jewish composers of the Weimar Republic, with the participation of Austrian cabaret singer Ethel Merhaut. Friedrich Hollaender («Sex Appeal», «Falling in Love Again»), Mischa Spoliansky («Today or Never»), Werner Richard Heymann («A Friend, a Good Friend») — pieces that made 1920s Berlin world-famous and whose authors had to take them into exile after 1933.

Premiere in Delitzsch's Baroque Garden
Delitzsch Baroque Palace is located in northern Saxony, at the transition to the Dübener Heide heathland. Built at the end of the 17th century as a ducal widow's residence for Saxony, it now serves as a museum and event venue. The Baroque palace garden — geometrically designed, with boxwood ornaments and a central axis system — will become an open-air concert stage for the first time in 2026: the premiere of the new event format «Open-Air Palace Concert».
«Süß & Bitter» — Music of the Golden Twenties
The opening concert on June 13, 2026, 8 PM, is part of a larger thematic framework: In 2026, Saxony is focusing on Jewish cultural history with the theme year «Tacheles 2026 — Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony». The program «Süß & Bitter — Music of the Golden Twenties», performed by the renowned Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie under the direction of and with Austrian singer Ethel Merhaut, brings works by Jewish composers of the Weimar Republic to the palace garden setting. Friedrich Hollaender, Mischa Spoliansky, Werner Richard Heymann — composers who made careers with Marlene Dietrich, Hans Albers, and in 1920s Berlin before being forced into exile after 1933. A musical program between cabaret songs, symphonic music, and Yiddish sounds.
Delitzsch and the Northern Saxon Cultural Heritage
Delitzsch, with just under 26,000 inhabitants, was an important tobacco town in the 18th and 19th centuries; today, it is characterized as an educational and residential location on the outskirts of the Leipzig metropolitan region. Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch, one of the founders of the German cooperative system, was born here. The Baroque palace, the Museum of City and Cooperative History, and the nearby Schladitzer See lake make the town a destination for weekend trippers from Leipzig.
