Two-day neighbourhood festival in Stuttgart's Fildern district
Degerloch is one of Stuttgart's highest districts, situated high above the city centre on the Fildern plateau, offering panoramic views across the Neckar valley. This residential area is characterized by Wilhelminian-era villas, single-family homes, and a vibrant retail scene along Epplestraße. The Degerloch Business and Trade Association organises the Degerlocher Sommer annually as a central neighbourhood festival – a blend of commercial showcase, sporting engagement, and community gathering.
Saturday, July 4th, 2026, from 10 AM to 6 PM is the opening day. Children's activities at Agnes-Kneher-Platz will include play areas, Bobby car races for the little ones, craft sessions, and face painting. Stuttgart's local sports clubs will be featured on the main stage: Stuttgarter Kickers (3rd League Football, traditionally from Degerloch), HTC Stuttgarter Kickers (Hockey), Stuttgart Scorpions (American Football), and Stuttgart Rugby Club – all offering demonstrations and interactive stations. The Stuttgart Rugby Club will provide refreshments at the beer bar.
Sunday, July 5th, 2026, begins at 11 AM with an ecumenical service in one of Degerloch's churches or on the square. From 12:30 PM, enjoy a Jazz Brunch with the Riverside Jazz & Bluesband on Epplestraße – a Stuttgart institution for swing, Dixieland, and blues. The afternoon will feature more interactive activities, sports club demonstrations, and live music from local bands. The festival concludes around 6 PM.
The Degerlocher Sommer brings the restaurateurs and retailers of Epplestraße into the festival spirit: restaurant stalls offering Swabian specialities (Maultaschen, Käsespätzle, Schnitzel), Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, ice cream parlours, and coffee roasters. Shops will present special promotions, with some opening on Sunday as part of the extended shopping hours.
Degerloch is easily accessible from the city centre via the U7 and U8 suburban train lines (Degerloch–Hauptbahnhof–Bad Cannstatt route) in just 15 minutes. By car, take the B 27 or B 14. Parking is available on side streets, though may be limited on festival days.
A classic neighbourhood festival format featuring a children's day on Saturday and a Sunday brunch – supported by the Degerloch Business and Trade Association and four local sports clubs.
